Question Summary:

Jesus wore a tunic form of clothing, so does that mean wearing the same type of clothing will get us eternal life so we can go to heaven?

Reply:

Wearing a tunic or any form of clothing will neither get you into heaven nor keep you out of heaven. Eternal life and salvation through Jesus, the Christ, has absolutely nothing to do with clothing.

It is our simply faith in and dependence upon Jesus, and His shed blood on the cross for us, that secures us forgiveness of sin and ensures our salvation. It is Jesus’ resurrection from the dead, and the power of that resurrection, that make eternal life possible for us.

John 3:16 (AV)(KJV) Jesus speaking

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

When you look into the Greek language at the meaning of the word “believeth” found in the above verse it has three parts and collectively they make it clear that this belief is not merely an intellectual assent of Truth. It goes much deeper than agreeing with the facts. To “believeth” in Jesus is “to have faith in, upon, and with respect to” Him with “moral conviction of a religious truth” as to “the truthfulness of God, especially when it comes to reliance upon Christ for salvation.” Believing in the “only begotten Son” means “to entrust oneself, especially one’s spiritual well-being to Christ” with all we have within us and to “commit to put trust with” Him and “believe” Him continually as we “credit” Him with our salvation, growth, change, eternal life, et cetera. There is the clear meaning in the Greek language that this belief or to “believeth” is a form of “persuasion, credence, and moral conviction” which is so strong we continue with “constancy in such profession, assurance, belief and faith” with “fidelity” throughout our lifetime. To “believeth” is to submit to “the system of religious (Gospel) – truth itself.”

Romans 5:12 (NKJV)

12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned—

Romans 3:23 (NKJV)

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Romans 6:23 (NKJV)

23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

There is no individual of any age who has never sinner. Whether one sin or one million it is all the same to God. Whether you told a white lie or murdered someone it is all the same to God. Sin is sin and sin stinks in the nostrils of a Holy God. Therefore, we need Jesus and His shed blood to cleanse us from that sin and keep us clean.

Romans 5:8 (NKJV)

8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 10:9–10 (NKJV)

9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Simply cry out to Jesus, ask Him to forgive you, ask Him to be your Lord and to direct your life according to His Will. Then continue in that for the rest of your life, when at last you will exchange the temporal life for the eternal life you gained, or will gain, at the moment you called, or call, out to Him.

1 Corinthians 15:1–4 (NKJV)

Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.

3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

Regarding worldviews:

Secular sources – self-help, advice, mass media – some of these resources can be useful in obtaining knowledge about what is going on in our world but they are not credible sources for a Believer when it comes to establishing beliefs, opinions, and directives for life. The gap between the two foundational platforms (biblical vs. secular) is too vast at this point in our present day society to bring reconciliation between the two. A Believer should seek out Christian lifestyle training, godly counsel, and Christian forms of mass media using those to shape their approach to life.

Spiritual/Political Disclaimer:

This blog will not be for the faint of heart or the easily offended. It will not be in any way politically correct. It will make every effort to share the truth in love, [Ephesians 4:11-16], to a decaying and dying society and church. I share what I share not to hurt, harm, or offend any person[s] or group; I do it because Christ’s Standard and Truth is not being represented by enough of His Followers and I do it out of love. I love enough to tell His Truth.

Ephesians 4:11-16 NKJV

11And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— 16from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
