A Candymaker’s Witness

A candymaker in Indiana wanted to make a candy that would be a witness, so he made the Christmas Candy Cane. He incorporated several symbols for the birth, ministry and death of Jesus Christ.

He began with a stick of pure white, hard candy. White to symbolize the Virgin Birth and the sinless nature of Jesus, and hard to symbolize the Solid Rock, the foundation of the Church, and firmness of the promises of God.

The candymaker made the candy in the form of a “J” to represent the precious name of Jesus, who came to earth as our Savior. It could also represent the staff of the “Good Shepherd” with which He reaches down into the ditches of the world to lift out the fallen lambs, who like all sheep, have gone astray.

Thinking that the candy was somewhat plain, the candymaker stained it with red stripes. He used three small stripes to show the stripes of the scourging Jesus received by which we are healed. The large red stripe was for the blood shed by Christ on the cross so that we could have the promise of eternal life.

Unfortunately, the candy became known as a Candy Cane – a meaningless decoration seen at Christmas time. But the meaning is still there for those who “have eyes to see and ears to hear.” I pray that this symbol will again be used to witness TO THE WONDER OF JESUS and HIS GREAT LOVE that came down at Christmas and remains the ultimate and dominant force in the universe today.

This year try hanging your candy canes, on your tree, upside down so that they form the letter “j”. It will be a small way to remind all who see them the real reason we celebrate Christmas.

An Old Man’s Christmas

Someone sent me this story anonymously several years back. It had no title so I gave the story its title. If you know who wrote this story or you believe the story to be copyrighted material please contact me and I will pull the posting immediately. Otherwise, enjoy this wonderful Christmas story, which embodies a principle Jesus taught.

 

The old man sat in his gas station on a cold Christmas Eve. He hadn’t been anywhere in years since his wife had passed away. It was just another day to him. He didn’t hate Christmas, just couldn’t find a reason to celebrate. He was sitting there looking at the snow that had been falling for the last hour and wondering what it was all about when the door opened and a homeless man stepped through.

Instead of throwing the man out, Old George as he was known by his customers, told the man to come and sit by the heater and warm up. "Thank you, but I don’t mean to intrude," said the stranger. "I see you’re busy, I’ll just go."

"Not without something hot in your belly." George said.

He turned and opened a wide mouth Thermos and handed it to the stranger. "It ain’t much, but it’s hot and tasty. Stew … Made it myself. When you’re done, there’s coffee and it’s fresh."

Just at that moment, he heard the "ding" of the driveway bell.. "Excuse me, be right back," George said. There in the driveway was an old ’53 Chevy. Steam was rolling out of the front. The driver was panicked. "Mister can you help me!" said the driver, with a deep Spanish accent. "My wife is with child and my car is broken." George opened the hood. It was bad. The block looked cracked from the cold the car was dead.

"You ain’t going in this thing," George said as he turned away.

"But Mister, please help …." The door of the office closed behind George as he went inside. He went to the office wall and got the keys to his old truck, and went back outside. He walked around the building, opened the garage, started the truck and drove it around to where the couple was waiting. "Here, take my truck," he said. "She ain’t the best thing you ever looked at, but she runs real good."

George helped put the woman in the truck and watched as it sped off into the night.. He turned and walked back inside the office. "Glad I gave ’em the truck, their tires were shot too. That ‘ol truck has brand new." George thought he was talking to the stranger, but the man had gone. The Thermos was on the desk, empty, with a used coffee cup beside it. "Well, at least he got something in his belly," George thought.

George went back outside to see if the old Chevy would start. It cranked slowly, but it started. He pulled it into the garage where the truck had been. He thought he would tinker with it for something to do. Christmas Eve meant no customers. He discovered the block hadn’t cracked; it was just the bottom hose on the radiator. "Well, shoot, I can fix this," he said to himself. So he put a new one on.

"Those tires ain’t gonna get ’em through the winter either." He took the snow treads off of his wife’s old Lincoln. They were like new and he wasn’t going to drive the car anyway.

As he was working, he heard shots being fired. He ran outside and beside a police car, an officer lay on the cold ground. Bleeding from the left shoulder, the officer moaned, "Please help me."

George helped the officer inside as he remembered the training he had received in the Army as a medic.. He knew the wound needed attention. "Pressure to stop the bleeding," he thought. The uniform company had been there that morning and had left clean shop towels. He used those and duct tape to bind the wound. "Hey, they say duct tape can fix anythin’," he said, trying to make the policeman feel at ease.

"Something for pain," George thought. All he had was the pills he used for his back. "These ought to work." He put some water in a cup and gave the policeman the pills.. "You hang in there; I’m going to get you an ambulance."

The phone was dead. "Maybe I can get one of your buddies on that there talk box out in your car." He went out only to find that a bullet had gone into the dashboard destroying the two-way radio.

He went back in to find the policeman sitting up. "Thanks," said the officer. "You could have left me there. The guy that shot me is still in the area."

George sat down beside him, "I would never leave an injured man in the Army and I ain’t gonna leave you." George pulled back the bandage to check for bleeding. "Looks worse than what it is.. Bullet passed right through ‘ya. Good thing it missed the important stuff though. I think with time your gonna be right as rain."

George got up and poured a cup of coffee. "How do you take it?" he asked.

"None for me," said the officer.

"Oh, yer gonna drink this. Best in the city. Too bad I ain’t got no donuts." The officer laughed and winced at the same time.

The front door of the office flew open. In burst a young man with a gun. "Give me all your cash! Do it now!" the young man yelled. His hand was shaking and George could tell that he had never done anything like this before.

"That’s the guy that shot me!" exclaimed the officer.

"Son, why are you doing this?" asked George, "You need to put the cannon away. Somebody else might get hurt."

The young man was confused. "Shut up old man, or I’ll shoot you, too. Now give me the cash!"

The cop was reaching for his gun. "Put that thing away," George said to the cop, "we got one too many in here now."

He turned his attention to the young man. "Son, its Christmas Eve. If you need money, well then, here. It ain’t much but it’s all I got. Now put that pea shooter away."

George pulled $150 out of his pocket and handed it to the young man, reaching for the barrel of the gun at the same time. The young man released his grip on the gun, fell to his knees and began to cry. "I’m not very good at this am I? All I wanted was to buy something for my wife and son," he went on. "I’ve lost my job, my rent is due, my car got repossessed last week."

George handed the gun to the cop. "Son, we all get in a bit of squeeze now and then. The road gets hard sometimes, but we make it through the best we can."

He got the young man to his feet, and sat him down on a chair across from the cop. "Sometimes we do stupid things." George handed the young man a cup of coffee. "Bein’ stupid is one of the things that makes us human. Comin’ in here with a gun ain’t the answer. Now sit there and get warm and we’ll sort this thing out."

The young man had stopped crying. He looked over to the cop. "Sorry I shot you. It just went off. I’m sorry officer."

"Shut up and drink your coffee,” the cop said.

George could hear the sounds of sirens outside. A police car and an ambulance skidded to a halt. Two cops came through the door, guns drawn. "Chuck! You ok?" one of the cops asked the wounded officer.

"Not bad for a guy who took a bullet. How did you find me?"

"GPS locator in the car. Best thing since sliced bread.. Who did this?" the other cop asked as he approached the young man.

Chuck answered him, "I don’t know. The guy ran off into the dark. Just dropped his gun and ran."

George and the young man both looked puzzled at each other.

"That guy work here?" the wounded cop continued.

"Yep,” George said, "just hired him this morning. Boy lost his job."

The paramedics came in and loaded Chuck onto the stretcher. The young man leaned over the wounded cop and whispered, "Why?"

Chuck just said, "Merry Christmas boy … and you too, George, and thanks for everything."

"Well, looks like you got one doozy of a break there. That ought to solve some of your problems."

George went into the back room and came out with a box. He pulled out a ring box. "Here you go something for the little woman. I don’t think Martha would mind. She said it would come in handy some day."

The young man looked inside to see the biggest diamond ring he ever saw. "I can’t take this," said the young man. "It means something to you."

"And now it means something to you," replied George. "I got my memories. That’s all I need."

George reached into the box again. An airplane, a car and a truck appeared next. They were toys that the oil company had left for him to sell.. "Here’s something for that little man of yours."

The young man began to cry again as he handed back the $150 that the old man had handed him earlier.

"And what are you supposed to buy Christmas dinner with? You keep that too," George said. "Now git home to your family."

The young man turned with tears streaming down his face. "I’ll be here in the morning for work, if that job offer is still good."

"Nope. I’m closed Christmas day," George said. "See ya the day after."

George turned around to find that the stranger had returned. "Where’d you come from? I thought you left?"

"I have been here. I have always been here," said the stranger. "You say you don’t celebrate Christmas. Why?"

"Well, after my wife passed away, I just couldn’t see what all the bother was. Puttin’ up a tree and all seemed a waste of a good pine tree. Bakin’ cookies like I used to with Martha just wasn’t the same by myself and besides I was gettin’ a little chubby."

The stranger put his hand on George’s shoulder. "But you do celebrate the holiday, George. You gave me food and drink and warmed me when I was cold and hungry. The woman with child will bear a son and he will become a great doctor.

The policeman you helped will go on to save 19 people from being killed by terrorists. The young man who tried to rob you will make you a rich man and not take any for himself. "That is the spirit of the season and you keep it as good as any man."

George was taken aback by all this stranger had said. "And how do you know all this?" asked the old man.

"Trust me, George. I have the inside track on this sort of thing. And when your days are done you will be with Martha again."

The stranger moved toward the door. "If you will excuse me, George, I have to go now. I have to go home where there is a big celebration planned."

George watched as the old leather jacket and the torn pants that the stranger was wearing turned into a white robe. A golden light began to fill the room.

"You see, George … it’s My birthday. Merry Christmas."

George fell to his knees and replied, "Happy Birthday, Lord Jesus"

Evil Transforms (If We Let It) – Pt. 14 – Healing Forgiveness

In this piece we will explore one key point, forgiveness, from chapter five of David Kupelian’s book, How Evil Works. Please find a link below where you can purchase the book from Amazon, should you desire to do so. Here are some of the highlights regarding the power of forgiveness as found within this chapter.

Healing from many of life’s issues can be found through forgiveness, true and complete forgiveness. As the author notes in this chapter, the Lord’s Prayer, which Jesus gave us as a blueprint for approaching God just might provide insight for how to heal what we in our society have labeled “mental Illness.” That might sound crazy to you, but is it really?

Below I have provided the Lord’s Prayer from the Book of Matthew just as Jesus spoke it in bold font. In the (parentheses beside each section in regular italic font I have expounded with life application for each principle found within the prayer.)

Matthew 6:9–13 (NKJV) Jesus speaking

9 In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven,

Hallowed be Your name. (Revere and submit to God.)

10 Your kingdom come.

Your will be done

On earth as it is in heaven. (Want God’s Will.)

11 Give us this day our daily bread. (Trust God.)

12 And forgive us our debts,

As we forgive our debtors. (Give and receive forgiveness.)

13 And do not lead us into temptation,

But deliver us from the evil one. (Seek to be away from, and protected from, sin.)

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. (Trust God for it all and seek to glorify Him.)

When it comes to dealing with God and man it is in forgiving others, requesting forgiveness for ourselves, and receiving forgiveness or the lack thereof that we live or die spiritually. In forgiveness, manifest in all three forms, or the lack thereof we either find true happiness and innocence or conflict and separation from God and man.

I have heard it said, though I do not know by whom, that forgiveness means giving up all hope that the past would have been different. This statement is so true because in order to forgive we first must stop clinging to, ‘I wish this had not happened.’ It has happened and there is nothing that can be changed about that truth, however, you can change how you continue to react to what has happen. By forgiving you let go of the idea of there being a different yesterday, and you free yourself to live your tomorrow fully.

The author rightly states, forgiveness is about finding the grace to give up anger and resentment over an injustice. Forgiveness, the willingness to give up this anger and resentment, can be very healing. It is additionally true, that un-forgiveness, clinging to hostility and rage, feeds our pride, because after all we certainly deserved better. Only in releasing pride and embracing humility can a person find the courage to truly forgive.

True healing, God healing from mental illness or mental disorders is possible. There are individuals who have been diagnosed with what we call “bipolar disorder,” “depression,” “anxiety disorders,” “schizophrenia,” and other serious conditions that have mysteriously gotten better as Kupelian states. They discovered how to listen to the godly part of themselves aka the right side and stop listening to the ungodly forces at work around and in them aka the wrong side. Godliness grows and evil diminishes. The Light of God comes in, shines on their conflicts, and untangles their inner messes – primarily through various aspects of forgiveness. Once they give up their resentments and rage, no longer getting upset all the time, they simply get better as the author puts it. Having your mood strings pulled chemically through the use of psychiatric drugs will not accomplish this feat.

Our society seems to have forgotten the concepts of personal choice and personal responsibility. A blindness dominates our age which conceals a truth that even children know and understand naturally. We all have a “good side” (conscience) and we all have a “bad side” (sin nature). It is imperative that we are careful which side we heed and which side we feed. Listening to our wrong side will result in terrible consequences.

There is a famous story of an old Cherokee chief talking to his grandson. The chief said:

“A fight is going on inside me. It is a terrible battle – between two wolves. One wolf represents fear, pride, anger, envy, lust, greed, arrogance, self-pity, resentment, lies, and cruelty. The other wolf stands for honesty, kindness, hope, sharing, sincerity, humility, friendship, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. This same fight is going on inside you, and inside every other person, too,” he added. The grandson reflected on these words for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The old chief simply relied, “The one you feed.”

Forgiveness feed the good wolf, forgiveness feeds the spirit, forgiveness feeds healing, forgiveness feeds wholeness, and forgiveness feeds godly character.

Evil is sold in our society just as anything else might be sold, through marketing. Satan has marketed his product through those willing and those ignorant to his schemes. Through his craftiness he has turned the minds of even Believers to think that tolerance of his evil is some form of love. In so doing he has transformed to a large degree the once Devout Church and transformed our society to an enormous degree. He has not accomplished this without his workers however, the willing, the sold out for their own gain, and the ignorant masses following blindly behind the majority.

In this piece we will explore the spiritual aspects of mental problems as found in a very controversial chapter from David Kupelian’s book, How Evil Works, chapter five. A fair description of a mentally, emotionally, and spiritually tormented person is given by the author in this chapter. It is a person who has cultivated a secret inner life that is controlled by extremely dark thoughts and compulsions. Wild mood swings. Resentment that has so taken over an individual that they are on the edge of a violent frenzy. Paranoid delusions that are fueled by a person’s out of control and intense emotions. Perhaps even satanic visitations and inner voices that torment a person without mercy, for years at times, pushing them toward murder, suicide, or both.

Doctors actually believe they can solve the types of problems listed above with pills. However, as the author points out, ‘If they truly believe that they just might be as delusional as they people they are attempting to help.’

People are attempting to medicate their pain in life away, either through illegal drugs or by taking prescription drugs. Either way they are attempting to escape dealing with life’s problems and instead they are turning to a quick fix. As the author notes, many do this to get a “painless fix” as dealing with and overcoming life’s problems can often be painful hard work. Each time we fail to deal with issues in our life problems develop.

People are being filled with medication instead of receiving the help they truly need to deal with their emotional conflicts, depression, addictions, anger problems with their roots in trauma, flawed family relationships, and hidden resentments toward unresolved buried cruelty they have suffered. These people need help and understanding to heal their negative programming, overcome their destructive attitudes, surmount unhealthy relationships, and learn to develop and function in healthy ones – these people need genuine healing, not a chemical trick that tells their body and mind they “feel better” when they actually do not.

When they stop taking those drugs, the chemicals that trick their mind, they will be worse off than they were before they started taking the medication. There is a biblical principle that evil influences or vices that are not dealt with properly, when they return they will be much worse than they originally were (Matthew 12:43-45 and Luke 11:24-26).

As the author points out, until fifty years ago Western culture reflected Judeo-Christian conviction that God created the human race with the ability to chose between good and evil. Now the “cultural elite” no longer think of man in spiritual terms – morality, character, self-understanding, repentance and forgiveness. Instead man is viewed as a soulless animal, whose behavioral problems are genetic and can be dealt with by drugs. How is that working for us?

If you research the APA’s actual explanation for the cause of depression you will find that “the causes haven’t been pinpointed yet” is their explanation. Yet, if a person is depressed can there be any doubt that somewhere there is a real underlining and understandable reason. Reasons a person with common sense could comprehend and act upon, in order to bring about genuine healing. Find the root issue and deal with it based on biblical principles and find freedom, true freedom from emotional turmoil.

The great psychiatric lie; everything bad from temper tantrums, drunkenness, road rage, pathological lying, cheating, stealing, physical aggression, and drug abuse is now a disease. It is all physiological or genetic and a drug will fix it. Nothing is your fault, you are just a victim. Well, if nothing is your fault you can’t help yourself, therefore you can’t control yourself. If you can’t control yourself, you can’t trust yourself. If you can’t trust yourself, you can’t think for yourself, thus, you need someone else to think for you – doctors, government, etc. Do you see where this is going, where it could go, or where is has gone for some people?

Kupelian correctly notes that for some people the ego loves the idea that they are not at fault. They like not having any responsibly for their actions. They feel relieved to tell themselves that whatever is wrong with them is an organic disorder and not a sin, weakness, or deficit of character on their part. They are comforted by the lie that it is not their fault. When in reality and truth it would be better to stop blaming all psychological-spiritual problems on chemical imbalances, hormones, genes, and “newly minted mental illnesses” and instead look more deeply for the real causes and find the real cures.

The author describes an interaction with a very perceptive woman who summarized her experience with psychiatric drugs this way. “Do you know what the Valium did for me? It deactivated my conscience.” Another Christian lady was advised by her pastor to go on antidepressants because she was stressed–out and depressed. She did and she felt nothing. No conscious at all. She sinned many times and felt nothing. Then she went off the meds and she described how the first time she committed the same sin she had committed many times while on the meds without the meds, she felt conviction and sorrow. However, while she was on the meds, when she committee this same sin yet she felt justified because she was stressed. On the meds she described herself as feeling neither joy nor sadness. Another woman shares how the prescribed drug she became dependent on made her numb to the seriousness of her sins. She stated the drug was stunting her spiritual growth. That my friend is what is wrong with our society, a lack of conscience toward God and man.

Just as alcohol or illegal drug impair the conscience, so too can prescribed drugs. Feeling better often involves eliminating conflict; even when that conflict is internal within one’s own conscience. However, internal conflict tells us that something is wrong in our life, our thinking, or our heart. Anything that alters how God created the mind to work can have a negative result.

God’s inner revelation of Himself to all of mankind can be found within a person, within the human conscience. The conscience is, according to the author, “literally the presence of God in us, the friction between the way we are and the way we could be.” This correcting and illumination Presence is our greatest friend. However, sadly we as individuals experience Him as a psychic pain when we deviate from His urgings – urgings toward goodness, godliness, righteousness, and justice.

Pride is nothing less than our own private war with God. When we act to build our pride we begin to grow in conflict with God. A core truth is that pride allows evil to work in our lives. If we do not grasp the understanding that feeding our pride, our ego, regardless of how wonderful it may makes us feel, will only increase our inner struggle with our Creator, then we do not understand ourselves or life and we will not find true happiness, the author points out.

The war rages around the Truth that God created us and gives us a choice between good and evil. This means to us, in the way we feel, act, and react, that we can choose to obey our conscience even if it hurts or we can rebel against it and give into our lower impulses. The Book of Romans tells us that God has revealed Himself to ALL people without exception. I believe that it is through the conscience, the inner man, that God makes Himself known. People have a God-awareness of their Creator in their inner self.

Only man is created with the ability to choose. We can learn to appreciate God inside us and learn to live in obedience to the “still, small voice” of God in our conscience or we can ignore the conscience and attempt to be our own god. This will lead to seeking people to worship us, to feed our pride, the ego within. We will be a slave to our craving demanding ego. This can result in hating and punishing those individuals who offend us. As the author notes, “It’s ugly when we play God.”

The inner war must give way to one side or the other. What makes the good grow and the bad wither? If you recognize and acknowledge your flaws then the growing and withering takes place naturally and you begin to produce good fruit. If you hide from your flaws you will see failure and failing produced instead of virtue. If we hide in denial too much we see our failings as virtues – oh, how sad this would be.

Hate can restrict the mind and heart from seeing one’s own faults. Hatred acts like a narcotic drug that numbs the conscience, the author states. We may even fall into the ecstasy of false righteousness if we harbor hatred in our heart. Hatred can put losers on a high. Hatred will suppress awareness of one’s problems. Much like false love can do exactly the same thing. Hate and love are the two most powerful forces in the universe.

When heavily influenced by pride, hate, or false love our emotional state becomes deluded, egotistical, and extremely blind to our own faults. This will lead to being blind to pretty much everything else good or godly. Once in this condition trouble is sure to follow.

The author notes that the truths that lead to true happiness are rarely talked about in modern society. One of those truths being that too much praise to the point of leading to an overdose of praise can result in self-destruction. A spiritually mature person has a quiet inner strength that keeps them centered, self-contained, and most importantly humble.

Kipling has a classic poem which speaks to this truth.

“If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you

But make allowance for their doubting too…

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

And treat those two impostors jus the same…

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

Or walk with kings – nor lose the common touch,

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;

If all men count with you, but none too much,

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,

Your is the Earth and everything that’s in it,

And – which is more – you’ll be a Man, my son! ”

In a narcissistic society we must be willing to face the following truth with maturity. Not everything that feels good is good. Truth often hurts and cocaine often feels good. Truth is almost always good for us even when it hurts or makes us feel bad. Cocaine is never good for us even though it may make us feel good temporarily. Truth will set us free and set on the right path in life. Cocaine will destroy us and set on the path to death.

If you are a narcissist you are addicted to praise and supersensitive to criticism according to Kupelian, many psychologist, and I agree myself. Why is this so? Because for a narcissistic person their entire sense of self-worth is based on what others say to and about them. A complement equals feeling good for them and a criticism equals feeling bad for them. Hence, other people control how they feel continually.

As the author notes if you live for applause or appreciation then you entire life can become a stage and you an actor. You cease to be who you truly are and you become whatever is necessary to get the approval, appreciation, and the applause your sinful soul craves. Your inner emptiness will not be filled through your continual manipulative actions to ensure you are viewed in a favorable way by everyone around you.

The author notes that, just as ‘a cruel thoughtless comment can affect you emotionally, so can too much praise affect you emotionally – and adversely.’ The adulation of others only gives you a temporary fix that mask the hunger within but never fills that hunger, more approval will be needed later and the volume of approval needed will increase as times goes on – much like a junky the same amount of your drug will cease to be enough as time goes on. This type of life will exhaust a person mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

Many people use this approval seeking behavior to avoid facing who, what, and how they are. When you slow the pace of life you begin to discover the real you. For some people that person has been all but lost. Avoidance behavior can be applied to the use of any distraction to avoid seeing oneself clearly – approval, appreciation, busyness, drugs, food, alcohol, and etcetera.

If you are addicted to the drug of worship it will ultimately destroy you. Humans were never meant to be gods, worship destroys them and drives them mad.

The good news is that you can transition from the outer to the inner person. However, you must be willing to face the problems you find within your soul, your inner man. You will find relief in facing them and a blessing in correcting them. Change and real healing are possible. People are kept sane, happy, and progressing in the right direction in life by living continually in the LIGHT, the light of constant self-awareness and God-awareness.

Only when you have God Himself living inside of you, keeping you centered, God-contained, and humble can you truly be rooted and growing in life regardless of what people think of you or what is going on in the world around you. Your confidence comes from your Creator, not self, and not other people.

Through our obedience to our Creator we find that inner stability and peace. We were created and designed to follow those inner promptings from the Creator and be obedient to those directions. As we learn to do this moment by moment throughout our day, our week, our months, and our years God fills us with purpose and genuine lasting happiness that can come through nothing except following His directions. When you have that going on inside of you, you do not crave the reassurance of troubled souls – people of the world.

Kupelian makes an excellent point near the close of this chapter. “When we develop real character, rooted in ever-growing loyalty to the kingdom of heaven within, we find that “neither foes nor loving friends” – that is, neither condemnation nor praise – have much effect on our happiness.” This measure of character comes with spiritual and personal maturity coupled with life experience.

Throughout this last portion of chapter three the author reflects upon how the “Greatest Generation” might response to the evil we face today, based upon how they responded to the evil of their day. The author does likewise with how President Ronald Reagan might respond. Both of these journeys into refection are meant to help us understand how we might better respond to the threats of evil that surround us.

During World War II, during the horrific and monstrous movements that took place guided by the hands of evil men, America was a country with “tremendous national unity and a strong sense of identity” as the author points out. Judeo-Christian values were still dominant in people’s life. The culture was a culture of values and principles. The author goes on to note that this was not a time like today, where we, our country, is crippled by national guilt, self-doubt, and self-hatred.

The author goes on to make the point that during that time in history, the World War II era, the people would have never been deceived into thinking same-sex marriage is normal, or that abortion is moral and constitutional, or that posting the Ten Commandments on federal or city property, like a courthouse wall, violated the First Amendment.

The Church and American have lost their unity and loyalty both to one another as a people and to the One and Only True God who blessed them. In the words of the author we allowed ourselves as a collective group to become ‘corrupted with the anti-biblical philosophies and utterly confused to the point of suffocating our modern era and robbing it of genuine moral strength.’ Great strength comes through righteous living, also known as biblically based morality. Moral weakness, which appeasement often is, always encourages violence both on a national level and a personal level.

When writing about Ronald Reagan the author makes the point that though revered for his leadership now, Ronald Reagan was reviled in his day, just as Winston Churchill was. Most non-appeasing leaders are reviled initially or during their reign. It is only later people see the positive, productive, godly results of their moral and wise leadership. Unlike Reagan who had a mission to stand up for moral clarity – displayed as he faced the communist takeover of Hollywood when he was an actor, through his years as California’s governor, and later as President of the United States – we do not see that type of moral character in our leaders today. Steadfastness for Truth is not as prevalent as it once was.

Do you care what people say about you? Do you care about getting credit for your accomplishments? How much do you care? If you could have a choice between getting three things done and getting credit for none of them or getting two things done and getting credit for both, which would you choose? Be honest with yourself. If you care what people think, and you need the credit given to you by man for your accomplishments, this will affect your ability to stand up for Truth. Ronald Reagan did not care what people said about him, in that is found a secret strength and power. When he was president he kept a plaque on the desk in the oval office that read, “There is no limit to what a man can do or where he can go if he doesn’t mind who gets the credit.”

Are you able to stand alone when it comes to morality, Truth, or godly biblical principles? Strength and courage are a must if you are going to. If you want to be a consequential person, if you want to make a difference in life, you must be able to stand alone. Just like Reagan, a person who makes a difference has to not only endure their critics they must endure their friends, family, and advisers as well. When advised incorrectly take a play from Reagan’s playbook, he gracefully overruled them and forged ahead with what he knew to be morally right and a sound plan of action. A person must be willing to do as God directs them, with or without any support whatsoever.

Worldwide totalitarian movements – the terrible “isms” the author calls them, communism, fascism, Nazism, and Islamism are about seducing millions of people into enslaved nations, subject to utterly ruthless leadership. They are on par with the “ites” of the Bible. As a people, as a person, we must stand strong. “The denial and deference we display toward forces intent on destroying us is actually great weakness – evidence of our loss of courage and moral clarity – disguised as virtue.”, Kupelian states, and I completely agree.

We must face evil with great courage and moral clarity displaying a calm, fearless determination to do what is right, to stand up for Truth, no matter what – grace under pressure. We must withstand cruelty and craziness without becoming emotionally twisted up inside. Strength and patience emanates from true faith. Hate the sin, but not the sinner. Learning to do that will shield you from both Stockholm syndrome and many other evils in this world.

Right now we are seeing America rally around Donald J. Trump as a potential president for our country. It was not enough that we elected Obama twice; we are now living in a society that actually thinks someone such as Donald J. Trump is a viable candidate for the presidency of what was once a great and powerful country. (Do not get me wrong, we are still great and powerful, but when you witness the deterioration of that greatness and powerfulness for almost fifty years you know what we were as a country versus what we are today.) What I wish to explore is why we are living in a society that would elect Obama then follow that up with seriously considering Donald J. Trump as a president.

The short answer for both is, in the case of Obama people in our society, especially younger people, base how they should be, how others should be, and how their leaders should be on celebrities, and in the case of Trump he strikes a cord with a society that is fed-up with double talk and political correctness.

Obama did what celebrities do, and he appealed to people based on charm and charisma with very little substance to offer, making grand promises and proposing a ‘reach for the moon’ attitude that was neither wise nor reasonably possible. John McCain attempted to make people understand that Obama’s ideas would not bring about a better American, but instead that making the hard choices would bring about a better America, however, people wanted their ears tickled, they wanted to hear what they wanted to hear.

Now we have Trump doing something similar but his appeal is his willingness to say what other people have become too intimidated to say because of the political correctness persecutors. Trump appeals to people, and Trump is no doubt an extremely crafty businessman who know how to make money, and yes, America needs to make money, but his lack of governmental wisdom and knowledge along with his short-temper and mouth does not make a good mix for dealing with foreign powers and heads of states.

If our country elects someone like Donald J. Trump on the heels of electing Obama twice we will become the laughing stock of the world. The rest of the world no longer looks at America as they once did, and we are a bit of a joke now, but with Trump at the helm we would spiral even further out of control, and the world’s view of us would continue to decline.

How did we get here? How did we become a society who elects the Obama’s of the world and considers Trump a feasible choice for the presidency of the United States of America? A country whose Supreme Court legalized the union between people of the same sex and call it “marriage”? How did our country get in such a mess where Christians are persecuted for expressing their religious freedom and beliefs through the choices they make about whom they chose to deal with, work with, do business with, and so forth, (choices we are required to make per the Bible, if we are truly living out our religious faith) while almost every other class or group of people on the planet are afforded governmental and legal protections from persecution or discrimination? Whose fault is it anyway that we are at this point as a society?

You might not want to read my answer but here it is. The fault lies with the Christian Church and with Christians both as individuals and a collective group.

It is our fault because as a religious institution the Church laid down their mantel of godliness, expressed and expected, and replaced it with a superficial love that has failed to change lives by moving individuals toward godliness and glorifying God with their lives and lifestyle. Our failure to do this as a collective group and individuals, if we are individually guilty of such, is sin and wicked in the eyes of God.

The negligence of the Church has resulted in a decaying society, the Church’s loss of influence in our society, a lack of respect for the Church and Christians, and outright disrespect and discrimination toward Christians.

2 Chronicles 7:13–14 (NKJV)

13 When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

I love the Church, I love Jesus, I love Christians, and I also love our dying society. It is because I love all of them that I write these things expressing what God has put in my heart and on lips to express. However, there is an answer to this problem and the answer is found in repentance.

As individuals and as a collective group we must humble ourselves before God, acknowledge our sin and that we sacrificed godliness and Truth on the altar of worldly love (instead of agape love) and worldly acceptance. We can begin to tell the world the Truth as found in God’s Word and exhort them to turn from their sin and wickedness just as we have committed in our hearts to do. If we are going to wait until we are sin free to share Truth with people, to share what God has defined as sin or not sin, what He states is righteousness and what is right in His eyes, we will never get around to sharing the Truth with people. It is not about whether or not we measure up, it is about what God has to say about a subject.

Additionally, we can fall on our faces before God and pray for His forgiveness, His restoration, and the healing of our land (America). We can come together in unity once again as the Church should be, supporting each other, and seeking God together while upholding His Righteous Commands.

We can! We should! We must!

I was supposed to go see the move “War Room” with someone the other day but the movie was sold out to such a capacity that we did not go – only the front two rows were left. It was God that I did not go. God instructed me a couple of days later to write this piece, what Scripture to use, and what to say. I got a rough draft of the piece formed and the next day went to see the movie “War Room” and the closing shot of that movie was the above Scripture popping on the screen. The prayer that the woman in the lead role prayed at the end of this movie was so powerful and filled with the heart of God for His people during this time in history. It is a must see movie. Christians on a massive scale must once again become proactively involved in the affairs of their society. One way you as an individual can become involved is by standing up for Christian Liberty and Religious Freedom. If we do not stand together our ungodly society will crush us one by one – one small group at a time, one individual at a time. The Curse of Political Correctness

Many years ago in the late 1990’s I did a radio program titled ‘Political Correctness – The Killer of the Church’ and since that time political correctness has not only severely damaged the functioning of and influence of the church, it has become a cancer and curse upon our society in general.

Political Correctness sounds good, and on the surface it has the appearance of being kind and loving but in truth it robs people of their freedom, their free speech, their freedom of religion, and stifles the REAL TRUTHS as found in God’s Word, that would set people free from their bondages. Political correctness is an oxymoronic concept because it is meant to do good but overall ends us doing a great deal of harm. Political correctness is meant to keep a group of people from being hurt or offended but it often accomplishes this by hurting and offending the secondary group.

Here are some examples of what I mean and some Truths according to God’s Word that are avoided by both Christians and our society because of the monster of political correctness. Please know in advance I personally hold no ill will toward any persons or group of people my sole intent is to accurately represent the biblical position on these issues and express my personal religious views and beliefs, which is still my right in this country, The United States of America, according to The Constitution – Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Religion.

Transgender might be a worldly concept regarding gender identity but it is not a biblical concept about gender identity. For a person to be born male or female and then change that sex or believe that they were meant to be the opposite sex is to say that God did not know what He was doing when He form that person in his or her mother’s womb (Ps. 139:13-16). A person is born the sex that God intends them to be and in order for a person to reach a transgender mindset their concept of who God created them to be would have to become damaged or distorted. Yet, because of political correctness it is almost impossible for Christian counselors to help these young people from becoming more and more confused and sinking deeper into this transgender type of identity. Political correctness on this topic suppresses expression of Biblical Truth on this topic. One group is suppressed to support another, where is the justice in that!

Psalm 139:13–16 (NKJV)

13 For You formed my inward parts;

You covered me in my mother’s womb.

14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

Marvelous are Your works,

And that my soul knows very well.

15 My frame was not hidden from You,

When I was made in secret,

And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.

And in Your book they all were written,

The days fashioned for me,

When as yet there were none of them.

Same sex unions were legalized as marriage in The United States of America at the end of June 2015 by the Supreme Court in a 5-4 vote among The Justices. The Justices were just as split on the issue as the people in our country are split on the issue. Because they voted to legalize something does not make it legitimate in God’s eyes and it certainly does not make it marriage. Marriage according the Bible is clearly the joining and union before God and man of a man and a woman (Gen. 2:24, Mk. 10:6-9, and Ep. 5:31).

I personally know homosexual people and their sexuality does not make me love them any less whatsoever but their lifestyle is not something I can endorse or put my stamp of approval on. Moreover, their relationship with another person of the same sex will never be viewed as marriage in my eyes because the Bible does not support such a title for their lifestyle choice.

Christians and Christian Spiritual Leaders are being sued, their businesses boycotted, they are being branded or labeled as haters when they are not, just because they do not wish to partake in what they believe to be sin based on their religion. Because of political correctness it is almost impossible for Christian to express or state what they believe about marriage let alone refuse to be involved in such a ceremony lest they be sued or even prosecuted as having committed a crime. Political correctness on this topic suppresses expression of Biblical Truth on this topic. One group is suppressed to support another, where is the justice in that!

Genesis 2:24 (NKJV)

Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Mark 10:6–9 (NKJV) – Jesus speaking

6 But from the beginning of the creation, God ‘made them male and female.’ 7 ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, 8 and the two shall become one flesh’; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9 Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

It is considered politically incorrect to view people within the Muslim community as a possible threat to America yet it was individuals within the Muslim community that planned the attack on America and flew those planes into the world trade center towers. They make up the majority of the cultural community we have been fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan for years and years. Does that make all Muslim people bad or terrorist? Of course not! Does that make me dislike all Muslim people as individuals or a collective group? Of course not! However, the reality is that there is a large segment of individual within the Muslim community who hate Americans and most especially Christian Americans. Technically the disagreement and battle between Muslim communities and Christian communities dates back as far as the Book of Genesis.

Yet, because of political correctness it is almost impossible for Christians to express concern over the Muslim community and their affect on the world and Christianity as a whole without Christians being viewed as stereotyping all Muslims though they often are not doing so and instead are openly acknowledging that there are some peaceful Muslims within the religion and community. Political correctness on this topic suppresses expression of Biblical History, political concern, and national concern on this topic. One group is suppressed to support another, where is the justice in that!

Because of one individual’s twisted ideas and personal choice to kill innocence people in the Emanuel AME Church and that same individual’s ownership and displaying of the confederate flag, ownership and proper display of the confederate flag has come under fire. Everyone has jump on the bandwagon to do what is considered politically correct in taking down their confederate flags from both government buildings and private establishments to appear on the side of right even though the confederate flag is a part of their and this country’s history and heritage. I would even venture to say it was a proud part of their heritage, especially in South Carolina, June 2015. The idea that Amazon and other retailers have decided they will not even sell the confederate flag any longer is ridiculous based on the actions of one individual.

Let me be clear. I do not own a confederate flag, have never owned a confederate flag, nor does or has anyone I personally know. However, that is not the point, the point is it is a person’s right to have it, own it, and fly it if they so choose. It is a part of the heritage and history of the Southern States and should remain so.

Here is some irony on the subject to consider. We live in a country where you can burn the America flag but cannot own, or it is now made hard to own, a confederate flag. More irony, people have legally burned the American flag in a public arena during various protest in this country yet, the confederate flag can no longer fly in public arenas. Because of political correctness it is almost impossible for Southerners who are proud of their heritage and history to fly a confederate flag in peace. Political correctness on this topic suppresses the rights of an entire group of people as well as individuals. One group is suppressed to support another, where is the justice in that!

There is a saying, ‘So goes the church, so goes the society.’ Tolerance to the extreme, born out of a distorted idea of love, has spiraled out of control turning loving tolerance into tolerance of sin and that form of tolerance has deteriorated the biblical moral backbone of the church. With the increased negative form of tolerance came the increased silence when it came to sin, which lead to the deterioration of the church, which then lead to the deterioration of our society. I said all those years ago during that radio broadcast that tolerance would be the killer of the church, not in that it would end the church – nothing can do that, but in that it would end the church’s effectiveness within the society where it exist and we are certainly seeing the fruit of that here in American.

When Christians are too politically correct it can be dangerous to The Body of Christ and deferential to our society as a whole. Political correctness is not love. Political correctness that avoids, covers, or distorts Biblical Truth is wrong and sinful.

One of, if not the least, tolerated group in America today is the Christians. Everyone is expected to be politically correct unless it comes to talking about Christian groups, then the need to be tolerant of their lifestyle, beliefs, rights, et cetera seems to go out the window in lieu of honoring a different group. This is not the way it should be for in America we are suppose to be able to live side by side while respecting each other despite our words, beliefs, religion, and so forth. Today people claim to have such progressive, enlightened, intellectual thinking, which has supposedly helped our society evolve to the point it is at today; but I ask you, where is that thinking when it comes to respecting and being tolerant of the group labeled Devout Christians. One group is suppressed to support other groups, where is the justice in that!

Religious Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of

Freedom the United States of America in Congress assembled,

Restoration Act

of1993. SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

note. This Act may be cited as the "Religious Freedom Restoration

Act of 1993".

42 USC 2000bb. SEC.2. CONGRESSIONAL FINDINGS AND DECLARATION OF PURPOSES.

(a) FINDINGS.—The Congress finds that—

(1) the framers of the Constitution, recognizing free exercise

of religion as an unalienable right, secured its protection in

the First Amendment to the Constitution;

(2) laws "neutral" toward religion may burden religious

exercise as surely as laws intended to interfere with religious

exercise;

(3) governments should not substantially burden religious

exercise without compelling justification;

(4) in Employment Division v. Smith, 494 U.S. 872 (1990)

the Supreme Court virtually eliminated the requirement that

the government justify burdens on religious exercise imposed

by laws neutral toward religion; and

(5) the compelling interest test as set forth in prior Federal

court rulings is a workable test for striking sensible balances

between religious liberty and competing prior governmental

interests.

(b) PURPOSES.—The purposes of this Act are—

(1) to restore the compelling interest test as set forth in

Sherbert v. Verner, 374 U.S. 398 (1963) and Wisconsin v.

Yoder, 406 U.S. 205 (1972) and to guarantee its application

in all cases where free exercise of religion is substantially

burdened; and

(2) to provide a claim or defense to persons whose religious

exercise is substantially burdened by government.

42 USC SEC. 3. FREE EXERCISE OF RELIGIONPROTECTED.

(a) IN GENERAL.—Government shall not substantially burden

a person’s exercise of religion even if the burden results from

a rule of general applicability, except as provided in subsection

(b).

(b) EXCEPTION.—Government may substantially burden a person’s

exercise of religion only if it demonstrates that application

of the burden to the person—

(1) is in furtherance of a compelling governmental interest;

and

(2) is the least restrictive means of furthering that compelling

governmental interest.

(c) JUDICIAL RELIEF.—A person whose religious exercise has

been burdened in violation of this section may assert that violation

as a claim or defense in a judicial proceeding and obtain appropriate

relief against a government. Standing to assert a claim or defense

under this section shall be governed by the general rules of standing

under article III of the Constitution.

SEC. 4. ATTORNEYSFEES.

(a) JUDICIAL PROCEEDINGS.—Section 722 of the Revised Statutes

(42 U.S.C. 1988) is amended by inserting "the Religious Freedom

Restoration Act of 1993," before "or title VI of the Civil Rights

Act of 1964".

(b) ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEEDINGS.—Section 504(b)(1)(C) of title

5, United States Code, is amended—

(1) by striking "and" at the end of clause (ii);

(2) by striking the semicolon at the end of clause (iii)

and inserting ", and"; and

(3) by inserting "(iv) the Religious Freedom Restoration

Act of 1993;" after clause (iii).

SEC. 5. DEFINITIONS. 42 USC

As used in this Act— 2000bb-2.

(1) the term "government" includes a branch, department,

agency, instrumentality, and official (or other person acting

under color of law) of the United States, a State, or a subdivision

of a State;

(2) the term "State" includes the District of Columbia,

the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and each territory and

possession of the United States;

(3) the term "demonstrates" means meets the burdens of

going forward with the evidence and of persuasion; and

(4) the term "exercise of religion means the exercise of

religion under the First Amendment to the Constitution.

SEC. 6. APPLICABILITY. 42 USC

2000bb-3. (a) IN GENERAL.—This Act applies to all Federal and State

law, and the implementation of that law, whether statutory or

otherwise, and whether adopted before or after the enactment of

this Act.

(b) RULE OF CONSTRUCTION.—Federal statutory law adopted

after the date of the enactment of this Act is subject to this Act

unless such law explicitly excludes such application by reference

to this Act.

(c) RELIGIOUS BELIEF UNAFFECTED.—Nothing in this Act shall

be construed to authorize any government to burden any religious

belief.

SEC. 7. ESTABLISHMENTCLAUSE UNAFFECTED. 42USC

Nothing in this Act shall be construed to affect, interpret, 2000bb-4.

or in any way address that portion of the First Amendment prohibiting

laws respecting the establishment of religion (referred to in

this section as the "Establishment Clause"). Granting government

funding, benefits, or exemptions, to the extent permissible under

the Establishment Clause, shall not constitute a violation of this

Proverb 5:15 –

Thoughts shared by another…

This seems to be about drawing from one’s own prosperity and not letting one’s resources be drained by sin – whether that is spiritual, physical or other kinds of resources.

Good thought.

The earlier parts of the chapter are about listening to instruction and correction so as to not be dragged away by immorality, the immoral woman, and to avoid having one’s life and prosperity eaten away.

Yes, the wisdom of those who have gone before us can help us learn so we do not have to make as many mistakes in life.

So it seems to me the message is about keeping one’s livelihood intact.

Yes, it is in a way….but one must ask what is a person’s definition of livelihood – we would find many different answers.

…vitality and prosperity follow obedience.

My thoughts…

Proverbs 5:15-20 to some degree must be taken together and most definitely in context to those verses and the chapter. We will focus in on verse 15 and 16 together. Those two verses fall in the category of Scripture with the Law of Double Reference, which means it has a spiritual and literal meaning and/or can apply to more than one person or group of people in more than one way.

Proverbs 5:15–16 (NKJV)

15 Drink water from your own cistern,

And running water from your own well.

16 Should your fountains be dispersed abroad,

Streams of water in the streets?

Verses 15 and 16 are about:

a) covetousness [When taken with the verses that follow.]

b) reaping what one sows [When taken with the preceding verses.]

c) consequence of sin or ungodly actions – tarnished fruit [When taken with both the previous and later verses as well as the overall context of the chapter.]

Looking deeper into the meaning of the Hebrew words involved in these two verses, you can see the tone and intent of their meaning.

Vs. 15 – (KJV/AV) “Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.”

“waters” = water [meaning the outpouring or flow]; by euphemism urine, semen: — + piss, wasting [with implications for two different application 1 – martial adultery and 2 – the disgusting results of sin and ungodly actions.] course [course of life], flood [problems of life], spring [results of actions, the outpouring of our actions.]

“out of thine own cistern” = bore [Many of the holes we find ourselves in throughout life we dug for ourselves.] a pit hole – espec. one used as a cistern or a prison: — cistern, dungeon, [Our own choices build our personal prisons in life.] fountain [The foundation of our life is based primarily upon the choices we have made.] pit, well.

“and running waters” and “thine own well” [Both share the same meaning in the Hebrew.] = to drip, or shed by trickling: — distil, drop, flood, cause to flow or a flowing, gush out, melt, pour down, running water, stream. [That flow of life choices day in and day out that make up our lives – choices that are either godly or ungodly, God’s Will or not God’s Will.]

Vs.16 – (KJV/AV) “Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.”

“Let thy fountains” = as a denominative in the sense of a spring; a fountain also collect, figuratively a source of satisfaction [The truth is people derive personal satisfaction from good and evil, godliness and sin, positive and negative actions, doing God’s Will and doing their own will.] :— fountain, spring, well.

“be dispersed” = a prim. root; to dash in pieces, lit. or fig. espec. to disperse: — break, dash, shake into pieces, cast abroad, disperse selves, drive, retire, scatter abroad, spread abroad. [We can often choose to destroy the ungodliness in our lives or have our lives destroyed by the ungodliness as we are dashed to pieces upon the destructive rocks of our own life choices.]

Therefore in these verses we are told to desire what we have and be content with what we have, either relationally, materially, position-ally, etc. and not covet what another person has because that will only lead us to sin and that sin will bring havoc into our lives.

It also tells us that we will reap what we sow, that sin leads to consequences, personal imprisonment, and a flood of problems in life, that our choices make up our lives, and that it is primarily our own choices that dig the holes we find ourselves struggling to get out of in life.

We lose what really satisfies us when we begin to go after what another has, our own will, the things of the world, and sin.

Bottom line, the prophets felt I presented how they are without presenting the other side of the coin – how people treat them and why. Therefore, through this series, I am addressing those concerns and the questions associated with those concerns.

Question Summary:

I carefully considered whether or not to include this question in the series. I personally know the individual who posed the question. Having personal insight into their heart and their spirit I know their motives come from a pure place therefore, I have chosen to include their question for it is a valid one.

The essence of the question was, ‘What is a prophet to do when their church leadership is less spiritually mature than they are? This does cause problems for the prophet.’

Response:

Actually this is more common than people tend to realize because most people view the Pastors, Deacons, and other various members of leadership as more spiritual than the people within the congregation. However, this is often not the case at all. I do not even believe most Pastors try to present the situation as such. Godly Pastors know there are people within their congregation who are more mature than they are. That the leadership is more mature than everyone else in the congregation is simply one of those assumptions people make based solely on the fact that the individuals have positions of leadership within the local congregation.

Yes, it can cause problems for the prophet. However, how the prophet handles themselves can go a long way toward making those problems worse or better.

Leadership is always to be respected as long as they are not sinning against the people. The prophet, or the person upon whom a prophetic spirit rest, who is more mature than their local leadership should go out of their way to respect that leadership even more. When sin is not involved you never usurp the authority of, or undermine, spiritual leadership.

If your leadership is less spiritually mature than you are then come along side of them and help them, reach out to them and be a blessing to them. If they are quality leadership, they will welcome the input, insight, and help. If they are not quality leadership, you will receive either a negative reaction or no reaction, which at that point you have to realize that they are not secure in their leadership and you may need to go back to God about what to do. Secure people seek people who can help them further the agenda of the Kingdom of God.

Before the comments come in about the five-fold ministry and the priority of those ministries, let me address those Scriptures. Yes, the prophet is listed as the second position of ministry on that list. Yes, it comes before pastor and secondary leadership such as deacons are not even on the list. However, the list is not meant to qualify ranks for the sake of qualifying ranks. The list is meant to exemplify the functionality of the Body of Christ. Let me explain by breaking the list down.

Ephesians 4:11–13 (NKJV)

11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

Spiritual leader’s primary purpose.

· Apostles – build churches and ministries.

· Prophets – minister to the needs of the Body of Christ as a corporate whole first, the local congregation second, and the personal individual third for the purpose of communicating God’s Will and Divine Direction, explaining what is to come for God’s people, et cetera.

· Evangelists – preach the Gospel in order to build the Body of Christ in numbers.

· Pastors – care for the practical everyday needs and spiritual wellbeing of the members of the Body of Christ.

· Teachers – disciple (educate) people in the Word of God.

One must keep in mind that some pastors are teaching pastors, which means they are called as teachers as well as pastors. Some prophets are also teachers and apostles. Some apostles are also prophets. Some evangelists are also prophets. A combination of callings and certainly multiple spiritual gifts is quite common among those called to the five-fold ministry.

The Scripture below in Ephesians makes it clear we are to submit ourselves one to another for the over good of the Body of Christ and out of reverence to (fear of) God.

Ephesians 5:15–21 (NKJV)

Walk in Wisdom

15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another in the fear of God.

One must always keep in mind that it is the more mature person’s obligation to defer to the less mature person because they are weaker in their faith. Romans 14 teaches that we are to do all we can to ensure we are not the cause of another person stumbling in their walk with God. Therefore, if we must defer to them or curtail our actions, a mature Believer will do that and a prophet should certainly be mature. A mature prophet, or a person upon whom the spirit of prophesy rest; will always attempt to be a blessing to their local godly leadership not a hindrance.

I would like to conclude the two series on prophets and their relationship with their fellow man with the following thought. In the end what people must remember is, Prophets primarily apply God’s Word to the corporate people of God, meaning the Body of Christ, more often than to specific individuals.

There may be a larger break than normal between the ending of this series and the beginning of the next or the restarting of the Q&A series. I have a number of pieces for publication that need my attention and I am a bit behind schedule at this time. I appreciate your dedication to reading the blog and your patience. Question Summary:

This question was quite simple. ‘Why do they, which references prophets, seem so angry, negative, and pessimistic?’

Response:

The answer to this question is just as simple as the question but very difficult to fully comprehend. The answer – It is because prophets, prophetesses, and people upon whom a prophetic spirit rest are actually extremely hopefully about how things could be.

The majority of individuals sell themselves short, sell people short, and sell mankind in general short. Their bar of expectation and/or standards is very low; their hope is fleeting at best. For the prophet the ideal is always a possibility with God and their frustration with mankind, which is mistaken for anger, is because mankind sells themselves short and even sells God short. This reality is always present with the prophet because the prophet’s knowledge of what could be and their hope for the manifestation of what could be is always present.

As far as their perceived negativity, they believe in Truth and only through the acceptance of Truth can mankind reach their full potential. The prophet’s battle to combat every untruth with God’s Truth is perceived as being negative but in Truth is the highest form of optimism because the prophet wants everyone to live in Truth and thus live in godly victory, godly fulfillment, and godly satisfaction.

Lastly, the prophet or those upon whom a prophetic spirit rest have a very pessimistic view of sin – as they should. Typically when someone talks about a prophet being pessimistic it relates to them addressing the matter of sin, which a group or individual does not wish to view as sin. Well guess what folks, just because the majority thinks it is okay does not make it okay, just because the majority thinks it is normal does not make it normal or godly in God’s view, just because the majority thinks it is right does not make it moral or right, and just because the majority thinks something is so does not make it Truth.

Prophets and those upon whom a prophetic spirit rest are some of the most ideal, hopeful, godly-positive people you ever want to meet but their hope, their beliefs, their foundation for all that idealism, hope, and victorious thinking is based in Christ Jesus and His Word not the worlds ideas.

Question Summary:

‘As a prophet I find myself surprised that people fear me. A prophet wants the will of God, which should never be feared. I have friends who have had similar experiences. So, why do the people fear the prophets?’

Response:

I touched on this lightly in the first series but I will elaborate a bit more. I want to make it clear that the fact that people fear prophets or those individual upon whom a prophetic spirit rest is not because the prophet has done anything wrong in God’s eyes or done anything of which people should be fearful.

First let me state what should be obvious to a prophet; not all people want God’s Will. People seem to fear God’s Will but they do so because they lack understanding regarding how much God loves them and how His Will for them is their “ideal” life, even if they do not recognize it as such at first glance. Prophets always point people toward Jesus and God’s Will therefore to be in the presence of a prophet is to be confronted with God’s Will, which we have established that people often fear, thus they associate the two, the Will of God and the prophet, this equals fear of the prophet.

Prophets and those upon whom a prophetic spirit rest are very humble but they are also very passionate about the things of God, they are headstrong (in a good way) when it comes to God’s Will, and they are vocal about sin, God’s Will, life, et cetera as God leads; put all of that together and you have a dynamic in your face passionate fireball for God and that kind of passion scares some people. Hence, this can also cause people to fear prophets.

Generally speaking, it is almost impossible to hide things from a prophet. They often do not talk about or confront a person with the things they know about them, their life, or their circumstances – they tend to pick their battles, so to speak. This knowledge, given by the revelation of God, becomes evident if a person is around a prophet enough and that scares people.

Taking that a step further, people fear prophets because of their own wrong motives for engaging them. As I wrote in another piece in the previous series, ‘A prophet can see into the spirits of people most of the time and therefore, he or she is often aware of the wrong motives of people.’

This leads me to my next point. People fear prophets because people know that prophets can see into their spirits. Honestly, who wants his or her spirit laid bare for someone to see? Not many. Therefore, the fear produced by this aspects of the prophet’s revelatory gifts is, for lack of a better way to put it, a natural consequence of the calling and the gifts associated with the prophets or those upon whom the spirit of prophecy rest.

Lastly, if people have engaged prophets or those upon whom a prophetic spirit rest in the past and not responded to them appropriately there might have been some less than pleasant consequences to their behavior, I wrote about this in part four, and therefore this can produce fear for the person when they interact with prophets or those upon whom a prophetic spirit rest. This is not the fault of the prophet it is the fault of the person who chose to respond, or not respond, as they should have responded.

This should have given you more insight into why prophets, prophetess, and those upon whom a prophetic spirit rest are unjustly feared.
